Completed August 2024
This project was taken on by a team of four interns with the St. Louis County Department of Urban Planning in order to analyze the existing state and potential future of the County's Traffic Generation Assessment (TGA) fee. As part of this team we engaged with several other County departments, met with leaders in County government, set and met our own deadlines, and presented our findings to the County Executive and Department heads by the end of the summer.

Completed December 2024
This is the engagement plan that was the result of a semester-long project taken on by 8 students in Professor Magdalena Novoa's UP510 course. We created, ran , and analyzed a workshop to assess the effectiveness, communication standards, and general sentiment surrounding the changes made to the Urbana Public School's Dual-Language Program. This required highly mature communication with parents, children, and school district officials, creative flexibility in creating a space where both adults and children could effectively communicate their needs, and teamwork skills to effectively complete the workshop and write a full report on our findings.

Professional History & GoalsOver the last five years, I have studied urban planning at the University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign. In May 2023 I received a bachelor’s of Urban Studies and Planning with concentrations in Policy and Planning, Sustainability, and Social Justice. I also received a minor in Geography and GIS with a GIS certificate. This December 2024 I expect to graduate from the same program with a master’s in Urban Planning. Outside of school, I have held several professional internships and research assistantship positions in the field of urban planning and community development.
Over the next five years, I hope to concretely discover what sectors of urban planning I enjoy the most, through varied trial and experience. Most of my career experience has been within academia and government, so I am curious to see what a career in private planning with a firm or consultancy could look like for me. Currently I hope to work in the St. Louis, Champaign- Urbana, or Chicagoland regions, three areas that captivate my interest through heritage, education, and experience. I find myself most attracted to working in urban design, transportation planning, or comprehensive planning. Ultimately, I hope for my first few years in the field to be exploratory ones, discovering more about the profession and more about myself and where I see myself doing and being my best.
Statement of ImpactI want to have a long-lasting impact on my communities I am passionate for, planting trees the shade of which I will not see but future generations will benefit from. This is in part where my admiration and interest in comprehensive planning comes from. Thinking at such grand scales of geography and time are challenging but rewarding.Statement of LeadershipI want to lead with passion and care, and create strong, healthy communities in the cities I love. Fostering a renewed love for post-industrial cities in the upper-Midwest can only be done if there are those who love them for what they already are and elevating them to better futures. I want to make the cities I work in the leaders of their contemporaries, setting the bar for how a place can reinvigorate itself.Text
